We offer a peaceful resting place for those you loved and cared about. Our service reserves the boat exclusively for your group for the 1 hour service. Our special service helps you to respectfully memorialize your loved ones with scattering of ashes upon the ocean. We bring our personal experiences with the loss of loved ones to our clients. We understand the difficulty surrounding this time and work closely with our clients to ensure their wishes are met.

Riptide Charters is licensed by the State of California to scatter ashes at sea.
We provide this service for those who wish to have a loved one's ashes scattered on the ocean. We can carry up to 17 passengers. Arrangements can be made for clergy, flowers or other wishes of the family. For loved ones who are cremated outside of the State of California, it is necessary to obtain a Disposition Permit. Please contact us for details on obtaining this permit before mailing cremains to us. Other locations Pricing depends upon your needs and desires. Pets, Flowers. No religious affiliations. All are welcome.

Licensed to Disperse Ashes at Sea

We are fully insured and certified by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry up to 20 passengers. The F/V Riptide is 40' long, fiberglass, and includes an inside cabin area and toilet.

We encourage you to memorialize your loved one in an ecologically sound fashion. Our clients bring cut flowers that can go in the water without causing any problems to animals, fish, or birds.

We usually schedule scatterings for the late afternoon (approximately 3:30 p.m.) and weather may very well cause us to reschedule the scattering.The Captain will determine this and will advise you. If we have to reschedule your date, we will apply the prepayment to a future date.Even for a one hour cruise to scatter ashes, we always remind people to dress warmly, wear flat shoes with non-skid soles.

You can provide your own beverages for toasting your loved one.

Services

Once we have settled on a date, we request payment in advance. We will provide you with instructions when we book the date. We only take cash, check or money order.

Basic Scattering: $500 (cash) | $515 credit card)

The basic scattering provides you with the exclusive use of the RIPTIDE for you and your guests up to 20 passengers total ( under the covid regulations we are generally now held to 15) for one hour. There is a $3.00 per person harbor Ticket Fee charge for everyone aboard the vessel.
We only take one group at a time. Being on time is critical for all concerned.

Multiple Scatterings: $100/person

The additional cost for more than one cremation (husband & wife) on the same trip due to the additional paperwork.
At this time, RIPTIDE accepts payment in cash, check credit card or money order.

Unaccompanied Scattering: $200/person

We now offer to receive your loved ones cremains by mail and can scatter them for you. The basic cost for this is $200 per individual. This can be documented with a picture for you as well as the purchase of flowers. Please inquire for these special services.

For loved ones who are cremated outside of the State of California, it is necessary for us to obtain a Disposition Permit. Please contact us for details on obtaining this permit before mailing cremains to us.

Shipping of Cremains:

We can receive the ashes of a loved one for you and bring to the boat. The cost for this service is $50 Per Individual. Please follow instructions on the Mailing Instructions. For storage of ashes for more than several days there is an additional storage fee of $50 per week.
